Our Consultant Interventional Radiologists

Dr. Little qualified with distinction from medical school, before undertaking further training in medicine and surgery in Cambridge. In 2011, he was appointed to the highly prestigious academic clinical fellowship (ACF) in clinical radiology at Oxford. During his time at Oxford, Dr. Little gained higher specialist training in all aspects of clinical radiology, and undertook a three-year full time fellowship in interventional radiology, being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).

In 2013, Dr. Little travelled to Lisbon to learn about Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE) under the guidance of Prof. Pisco, who is well recognized as one of the pioneers of PAE. Subsequently Dr. Little successfully gained grant funding from the Royal College of Radiologists to start the first UK research study investigating the effectiveness of prostate artery embolization in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Dr. Little is recognized as one of the most experienced interventional radiologists performing PAE in the UK. He has presented his research on the topic internationally, regularly teaches and mentors other consultants on this technique, and is a current advisor on PAE to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) England.

Dr. Little has received international awards for his research, published numerous peer-reviewed papers, and written several book chapters on interventional radiology.  In 2011 he was awarded the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) for his achievements in education.

He currently holds the post of lecturer in Anatomy and Embryology at Keble College, University of Oxford, and is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. Dr. Little prides himself on providing the best treatment package for individual patients, with particular emphasis on explaining the procedure, potential side effects, and what to expect afterwards. He uses state-of-the-art imaging technology to accurately plan the PAE procedure, maximizing success and minimizing complications.

Following medical education in Leeds and London,

In 2009 he was appointed as a specialist registrar on the Oxford clinical radiology training scheme; following which, he completed a three-year fellowship in Interventional Radiology (IR), gaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2013.

Dr. Briggs has held a number of senior management positions within the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR), and within the NHS. He is currently completing a higher research degree in Chartered Management at the Henley Business School. He is actively involved in the teaching and training of junior doctors, and engaged in research, audit and clinical governance; he has published in peer-reviewed journals, written book chapters on interventional radiology, and given numerous presentations at national and international conferences.

Dr. Briggs travelled to Paris to gain additional specialist training in Prostate Artery Embolistaion (PAE) under the guidance of Prof. Marc Sapoval. Dr. Briggs was pivotal in establishing the successful and busy PAE service at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust where he has been a Consultant Interventional Radiologist since 2015.
